Stone Bathrooms to Suit All Spaces

April 09, 2019   |   By

More and more people are opting for a natural stone bathroom. In a previous blog, we covered the main advantages of limestone bathroom tiles. Here, we demonstrate how beautiful natural stone can be your perfect bathing buddy – whatever your style.

The expression ‘smallest room in the house’ was first used in a 1930 essay on good etiquette. Read on to find out how your ‘smallest room’ can make a big impression.

If you need inspiration on how to incorporate limestone bathroom tiles and other tilings into a natural stone washroom or bathroom in your home, take a look at the following examples:

The wonders of wood

Natural stone bathroom flooring

The design for this clever natural stone bathroom renovation started with the old wooden ceiling beam. Not surprisingly, the owner wanted to make a feature of this.

The designer chose a complementary modern wood frame for the sink unit and matching limestone bathroom tiles for the splashback and floors, tying everything together perfectly.

The result is a bright, modern space that still gives a nod to the home’s historic roots.

All about the window

The aim in this elegant natural stone bathroom is to make a focal point of the beautiful Georgian-style window. There was also a desire to make the room look less corridor-like.

The solution – beautifully light limestone tiles on the floor and all walls, with the exception of the window end wall. Here, contrasting darker stone tiles make a star of the brilliant white window and shutters.

Incidentally, this natural stone bathroom proves you don’t always have to go for matching sanitaryware. The ultra-modern toilet blends into the background, leaving centre-stage to the feature large bath and unusual circular pedestal sink.

Urban grandeur in spades

They say if you’ve got it, flaunt it! This spacious bathroom has got the lot – from the huge free-standing slipper bath to the discreet wetroom-style shower area with its almost invisible glass shower screen. And those windows..!

Again, limestone bathroom tiles were selected for the floor and walls, adding a touch of warmth and character to this spacious, minimalist room.

Dormer designs

Here’s a clever use of space in the eaves of an attic conversion. In a departure from limestone, this natural stone washroom makes use of floor-to-ceiling striated white marble tiles.

This creates a feeling of cleanliness and space, but with so much more character than plain white ceramic tiles.

Making a bold statement…

If you’ve got the space, and you’re brave enough to go for it, why not choose to make the tiles the star in your new natural stone bathroom? Here are a couple of examples of the stunning effect you can achieve if you’re not too precious about matching tiles!

But beware of going too wild. This sort of approach probably works best in moderation – for example, restricted to a single feature wall or shower enclosure.

Just plain quirky!

Maybe not to everyone’s taste, but these twin sinks with ornate turned-style pedestals would certainly help your natural stone washroom stand out from the crowd! In this setting, all eyes are on them, set against simple limestone bathroom tiles on the floor and walls.

Ready for a close-up? Celebrating natural limestone

To round off this little excursion into the different ways in which stone tiles can enhance any natural stone washroom project, here’s a close-up of some beautiful limestone tiles.

Of course, we’re a tiny bit biased – because they originate from our own Stamford Stone quarries on the Lincolnshire limestone belt!
